Looking Back, Moving Forward: My YAV Year and What’s Next

As my Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) year begins to wind down, I’ve found myself doing a lot of reflecting—on the people I’ve met, the communities I’ve served, and the ways I’ve grown. This year has stretched me, challenged me, and changed me in ways I couldn’t have imagined when I first arrived.

From working in community gardens and feeding neighbors on Wednesdays, to teaching third graders and setting up tech for students, each experience has taught me something new about service, justice, and what it means to live intentionally. I’ve been learning to slow down, listen deeply, and show up with my whole self, even when things are hard.

And after much prayer and discernment, I’ve decided that one year wasn’t enough—I’ll be doing a second year of service with the YAV program!

This wasn’t a decision I made lightly, but it feels right. There’s still more I want to learn, more I want to give, and more I hope to discover about how God is working in the world and in me.

Thank you for walking with me on this journey. Your support and encouragement mean everything. I’m excited to see where this next chapter leads and to keep sharing it with you.

Stay tuned—there’s more to come!
